One week until the symposium begins!

Time flies, doesn’t it? There’s now only one week until the beginning of IAUS 406, and we are looking forward to meeting our nearly 200 participants in Turku. The weather forecast at the moment looks nice too (but knock on wood…).

You can now join the symposium’s Slack workspace (the link will be sent to registered participants by email). Please join this workspace to receive announcements and updates, to ask questions and to simply introduce yourself to fellow participants! You can now also see the final programme and the poster list and flash talk schedule on this website.

In addition, for things outside the science-y part of the symposium, you can have a look at our events page for the welcome reception on Monday and the Astronomy on Tap event on Tuesday, and at the “things to do while in Turku” page for other ways to spend your time next week.

Abstract submission deadline reached

The abstract submission deadline was yesterday, and we are happy to report that we ended up with over 240 submissions for posters or contributed talks from the community, plus of course the invited speakers – a very healthy number and more than we expected. Thank you all for your interest in our symposium! Here’s the continental distribution of the abstracts, in case you’re curious:

The SOC will now get to work on evaluating the abstracts. The outcomes should be communicated to authors in mid-January.

Remember that the registration deadline is separate, and until March 1 2026 you can still use the registration form at https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/register/event/75831 regardless of whether you submitted an abstract.

Registration and abstract submission is now up!

The Local Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that you can now register for IAUS 406 — Future landscape of astrophysical transients: novel approaches in theory and observations. Go check out the registration information and conditions and practical information about the conference and the venue!

Or jump straight into the forms:

We look forward to seeing many of you in Turku in 2026!
